You Know It’s Time For Change—But Why Does It Still Feel So Hard?

May 08, 2025

Change is messy. It’s emotional. And sometimes, it feels like two steps forward, one giant leap back. But the truth is—you’re not broken or unmotivated. You're probably just in the middle of the process.

Good News! You’re Not Starting From Scratch

You’ve been thinking about this change for a while.

Maybe it’s your health. Maybe it’s your career. Your boundaries. Your habits. Your relationships.

You’ve read the books. You’ve talked it out. You’ve made the lists.

So why does it still feel like you’re standing on the edge of something big… and not moving?

If you find yourself caught between intention and action, you are not alone. And no, you’re not stuck. You’re just in the sticky starting part of the journey.

The Silent Space Between “Knowing” and “Doing”

There’s this quiet, frustrating place where you’ve made the decision to change—but nothing visible has shifted yet.

You know the old habits aren’t serving you.

You’ve outgrown the patterns.

But real change? That asks something deeper.

This is the part nobody talks about enough. The part where you’re preparing. Gathering energy. Bracing for resistance. Sorting through your “what ifs.”

It’s not laziness. It’s self-preservation.

Here’s the truth: change begins the moment you start listening to that voice that says, “Something has to give.”

You’ve Already Taken the First Step

You wouldn’t be here—reading this—if you weren’t already in motion.

Maybe you’ve:

  • Brewed yourself a cup of coffee before jumping into your marathon caregiving day.
  • Unfollowed someone who made you question all your parenting choices (which were never wrong to begin with!)
  • Said “no” for the first time in too long.

These may seem small—but they are sacred. They are the beginning.

Let’s not measure your progress by dramatic before-and-after shots. Let’s measure it by the day you realized: I’m not living like that anymore.

Change Feels Like Loss Before It Feels Like Freedom

Real talk: change is uncomfortable because it requires us to let go—of habits, identities, coping mechanisms, even people.

You might have found yourself buried underneath all the nonsense weight of caregiving.  Your child’s needs skyrocketed above your own when you were not watching.

You’re not just building something new—you’re grieving what used to be easy, familiar, or numbing.

Even when we’re ready, part of us fights back. And that’s normal. It doesn’t mean you’re weak—it means you’re human.

So if you’re second-guessing yourself, or wondering why it’s not easier… you’re not behind. You’re becoming.

You Don’t Have to Hustle Your Way Through This

In the action phase, motivation spikes—but so does fear.

You start making changes… but it’s hard to sustain them when you're doing it alone or trying to “power through.”

Let me be clear: You don’t need to be perfect.
You don’t need to do this on your own.
You don’t need to earn your transformation through suffering.

What you need is support. Community. Grace. A flexible plan.

Space to mess up and try again.

Because it’s not about how fast you move—it’s about the fact that you’re moving at all.

This Is Your Permission to Keep Going

If you’re in that in-between space—deciding, starting, wobbling—don’t rush yourself through it.

Let it be sacred. Let it be messy. Let it be yours.

You’re not waiting for the “right time.”

You’re already in it.
This is the work.
This is the beginning of your after.

I started a free Facebook group for people ready to do this kind of work.

We take it slow, move one small shift at a time and celebrate everything in between.

I teach Cue Systems which are circular systems built into your real actual messy life.

We start with a nightly walkthrough and build on that success.

I want you to feel invited and welcome to the next phase of your amazing life!

If you’re ready to take the next step—but you don’t want to do it alone—I’m here.

You’re doing better than you think, go join the group so you can begin to get support for this hard meaningful work you are so ready to do.
